This soda bottle sprayer is a pump-up pressure head that screws onto a standard plastic soda bottle. Pump the handle to build pressure, press the trigger, and the adjustable brass nozzle sprays a fine mist or a straight jet.

Thirty squeezes in, your hand gives up

Misting a tray of seedlings with a trigger bottle is a squeeze for every few square inches. By the tomatoes your forearm is burning, and by the hanging baskets you are switching hands. Spraying soapy water on aphids, rinsing a bike chain, damping down a dusty patio table: every job is the same small trigger and the same aching grip.

A garden pressure sprayer is overkill for small jobs

The alternative is a full tank sprayer — a gallon of capacity, a wand and a shoulder strap — to water a few pots on a balcony. It takes up a shelf in the shed and needs cleaning out, all for a job that should take two minutes. Meanwhile the empty soda bottles go in the recycling.

A soda bottle sprayer that pumps up and sprays on its own

Fill an empty soda bottle with water, push the tube down inside and screw the sprayer onto the neck. A few strokes of the pump handle pressurize the bottle; press the trigger and it sprays steadily without you squeezing. Twist the brass nozzle to go from a soft mist for seedlings and leaves to a straight jet for rinsing. When the spray weakens, pump again. It fits the threaded neck of standard soda and soft-drink bottles, and the 30 cm (12 in) tube reaches close to the bottom of a 2-liter bottle. It comes with the sprayer, the tube and a rubber sealing ring. Find more home organization gadgets nearby.

What this bottle top pump sprayer does well

  • No hand cramp. Pump it up, then spray continuously instead of squeezing a trigger bottle over and over.
  • Adjustable brass nozzle. Twist it from a fine mist to a straight jet.
  • Uses bottles you already have. A standard soda bottle becomes the tank.
  • A plant mister and a rinse sprayer. Mist seedlings and houseplants, spray soapy water on pests, rinse tools and bikes.
  • Small to store. Unscrew it and it fits in a drawer.

It suits balcony and container gardeners, houseplant owners and seed starters, and anyone who wants a sprayer for small cleaning jobs. It is not built for a whole lawn, and weedkillers belong in their own dedicated, labeled sprayer.

Questions people ask

Will it fit a water bottle?

Usually not. It is made for the threaded neck on standard soda and soft-drink bottles; most bottled-water bottles have a shorter neck that it will not seal on.

How do I get a mist instead of a stream?

Twist the brass nozzle: one way narrows the spray to a jet, the other opens it to a mist. Build pressure with a few pumps first, because a weak pump gives a weak mist.

Why is it leaking at the top?

Check that the rubber ring is seated inside the cap and that the sprayer is screwed down straight and firmly. A missing or crooked ring is the usual cause.

Worth knowing before you order

There are two designs in the options: grey is the T-handle version, while yellow, blue and orange are the slimmer knob-handle version. Both screw onto the same bottles. Pressure drops as the bottle empties, so give it a few more pumps as you go. The bottle isn’t included; any clean soda bottle works.

Why order it before the next watering day

The plants will want water again soon, and the trigger bottle will be waiting for your hand. It travels in weeks rather than days — the estimate on this page is the real carrier quote — and our returns and refund policy sets out exactly what happens if anything goes wrong.
